ColGay Pride Presents: Trans Pride – Trans Lives Matter Protest
Friday, August 1st | 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM | Starbucks Parking Lot, 6783 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA
ColGay Pride of Columbus is proud to announce a peaceful protest in support of our transgender community. On Friday, August 1st, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, we will gather in the parking lot of Starbucks on Veterans Parkway to stand in solidarity with our trans brothers and sisters.
This demonstration is a response to the ongoing disregard and erasure of transgender lives by political leaders and institutions. We protest not just policies, but the dangerous rhetoric that seeks to invalidate the existence of an entire group of American citizens—without science, without reason, and fueled only by hate.
Bring your signs. Bring your flags. Most importantly, bring yourself.
Messages like “Trans Lives Are Human Lives,” “We Exist,” and “Our Lives Matter” will be proudly displayed as we raise our voices for visibility, dignity, and justice.
This is a call to action. A call to compassion. A call to show that we are here—and we are not going anywhere.

**Colgay Pride: Advocacy for LGBTQ+ Citizens of Columbus**
Colgay Pride is dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community in Columbus. Our mission is to speak out and take action against unjust laws and policies that threaten our community. We believe in the power of collective action and the importance of standing up for what is right.
**Current Challenges:**
- **Trump's Anti-LGBTQ+ Policies:** The recent executive orders and policies from the Trump administration have targeted the rights of transgender individuals and rolled back protections for the LGBTQ+ community. These policies include banning trans-inclusive school policies, cutting federal funding for supportive schools, and promoting discriminatory practices.
- **Impact on Our Community:** These policies have created a hostile environment for LGBTQ+ individuals, making it imperative for us to stand up, speak out, and act up if necessary. Silence is not an option when our rights and dignity are under attack.
**Our Advocacy Efforts:**
- **Speaking Out:** We actively raise awareness about the injustices faced by the LGBTQ+ community through public statements, social media campaigns, and community events.
- **Taking Action:** We organize protests, rallies, and advocacy campaigns to challenge discriminatory laws and policies. Our goal is to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
- **Empowering Advocates:** We provide training and resources to individuals who want to become advocates for LGBTQ+ rights. By empowering others, we amplify our collective voice and strengthen our movement.
**Why It Matters:**
- **Protecting Rights:** Advocacy is crucial to protect the rights and freedoms of LGBTQ+ individuals. Without it, discriminatory policies can go unchallenged and harm our community.
- **Building Solidarity:** By standing together, we show that we are a united and resilient community. Our solidarity sends a powerful message that we will not be silenced or marginalized.
- **Creating Change:** Advocacy leads to tangible change. Through our efforts, we can influence public opinion, shape policies, and create a more just and inclusive society.
Join us in our fight for equality and justice. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that the voices of the LGBTQ+ community are heard and respected.
