Whether they’re spoiling kids with gifts, offering a safe space to talk, or simply showing up with unconditional love, their presence is a beacon of joy and acceptance. ✨ A Tribute to All Guncles & Aunties - To those who never had children of their own but treat their nieces and nephews like royalty. - To those denied access to family simply for being who they are—your love still echoes. - To chosen family members who’ve earned the title “Uncle” or “Aunt” through love, not blood. - To every LGBTQ+ adult who becomes a lifeline for a young person discovering their identity. You may never fully know the impact of your love, but it’s monumental. Keep showing up. Keep spoiling. Keep being the safe harbor. Because one day, when a child feels lost or afraid, it’s your truth that may light their way. 📅 History of Gay Uncle’s Day - First celebrated widely on August 14, 2016, thanks to a Facebook post by C.J. Hatter. - Popularized by Australian rugby player Simon Dunn, who shared joyful photos with his nephews. - Now celebrated every second Sunday in August, with families sharing love and gratitude online. 📣 How to Celebrate - Post a photo with your nieces, nephews, or chosen family using hashtags like:   - #GayUnclesDay  - #GunclesDay  - #LoveIsFamily  - #ChosenFamily- Host a small gathering, cook a favorite meal together, or gift a book that celebrates diverse families. - Share stories, donate to LGBTQ+ youth organizations, or simply call your favorite guncle to say thanks.

COLGAY PRIDE LGBTQ+ BLOOD DRIVE

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ColGay Pride & American Red Cross Present: A Historic Blood Drive for Equality Thursday, August 28th | 11:30 AM – 4:00 PM | Columbus Public Library

ColGay Pride, in collaboration with the American Red Cross, is proud to announce our rescheduled blood drive, now taking place on Thursday, August 28th at the Columbus Public Library – Synovus Rooms A & B (3000 Macon Road) from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Originally set for July 9th, this event was unfortunately canceled due to a booking error. We sincerely regret the inconvenience and thank our community for their understanding. With everything now resolved, we’re thrilled to move forward with renewed purpose and even more time for donors to register and show up for this landmark moment.

This isn’t just a blood drive — it’s a milestone. For the first time in U.S. history, gay and bisexual men can donate blood under new, inclusive guidelines, reflecting decades of advocacy and the power of truth over stigma. This is more than an act of service; it’s a stand for equality.

If you previously signed up, we ask you to register again for the new date. To participate, visit redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code CVL. Walk-ins are welcome if space permits, and free sunglasses will be given to donors while supplies last — because showing up to save lives is always in style.

This is our first-ever LGBTQ+ inclusive blood drive in Columbus, and the beginning of what we hope will become a legacy of compassion, resilience, and change. Join us and be part of something extraordinary.

BEYOND LABELS

Title: Beyond Labels: A Call to Unity in LGBTQ+ History and Future

Synopsis: From the shadows of history to the strides of today, the LGBTQ+ movement has been a testament to courage, resilience, and the unwavering pursuit of equality. We have fought through oppression, rallied for our rights, and stood our ground through every wave of adversity. But now, at this critical juncture, we face not only external threats but divisions within our own community—fractures that threaten the unity we desperately need.

The generational divide looms large. Younger voices, fierce and impassioned, demand radical change, while the wisdom of those who walked before them holds the lessons of hard-fought battles. It is time for both to listen. To bridge the gap. To recognize that the fight for equality is not won through shouting down one another but through mutual understanding, shared respect, and collective action.

We must see each other as human, beyond labels. Pronouns, identities, and personal expressions are valid, but they must not become barriers. The movement was built on inclusion, and inclusion must be the foundation on which we stand. In the face of growing political threats—potential rollbacks of marriage equality, renewed legal oppression, and erasure from mainstream visibility—we must stand together as a united front, setting aside minor differences for the sake of protecting the future of all LGBTQ+ lives.

Our adversaries do not care about our labels; they seek to silence us all. And if we allow internal divisions to weaken us, we will have done their work for them. The fight ahead demands strength, solidarity, and unwavering perseverance—not just to defend our rights, but to build a future where every LGBTQ+ person can live freely, with dignity and respect.

The beauty of our existence must never be overshadowed by hate. For every battle, there is victory. For every moment of despair, there is hope. From art and culture to love and community, LGBTQ+ lives enrich the world in ways beyond measure. Let us rise beyond the noise, beyond the rhetoric, and see that we are more than survivors—we are creators, visionaries, and pioneers of a more inclusive world.

The time is now. We stand at the crossroads between division and unity. Let us choose unity. Let us work together. Let us fight for our future.

NON BINARY VIDEO

🌈 Honoring International Non-Binary People's Day – July 14th 🌈

At ColGay Pride of Columbus, Georgia, we proudly stand in celebration of International Non-Binary People's Day—a day dedicated to uplifting and honoring those whose identities transcend the traditional gender binary. Observed annually on July 14th, this date was intentionally chosen to fall midway between International Women’s Day (March 😎 and International Men’s Day (November 19)—a symbolic reminder that gender is not confined to two categories.

Since its inception in 2012, this day has grown into a global moment of visibility, reflection, and empowerment for non-binary individuals. It’s also a call to action for allies and communities to affirm the dignity, rights, and humanity of all gender identities.

📜 A Letter from ColGay Pride

To our beloved non-binary community,

Today, and every day, we see you. We honor your truth, your courage, and your journey. Your existence challenges outdated norms and expands the boundaries of what it means to be human. You are not “in between”—you are beyond. You are whole.

At ColGay Pride, we believe that liberation is collective. Our mission is not just to celebrate diversity but to build a future where every identity is respected, protected, and uplifted. We know that the fight for equality is far from over, but we also know that together, we are unstoppable.

Let this day be a reminder that you are not alone. You are part of a vibrant, resilient, and powerful community that refuses to be erased. We walk beside you—in Pride, in protest, and in purpose.

With love, solidarity, and fierce affirmation, The ColGay Pride Family Columbus, Georgia

OMNISEXUAL VIDEO

🌈 Celebrating Omnisexual Visibility Day – July 6th 🌈

At ColGay Pride of Columbus, Georgia, we joyfully recognize Omnisexual Visibility Day, held each year on July 6th. This day is a powerful opportunity to uplift and affirm those who identify as omnisexual—individuals who experience attraction to people of all genders, with gender being a meaningful part of that attraction.

Omnisexuality is often misunderstood or overlooked, but it is a vibrant and valid identity within the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Unlike pansexuality, which is attraction regardless of gender, omnisexuality acknowledges that gender can influence attraction. This nuance deserves visibility, respect, and celebration.

On this day of recognition, we honor your truth, your complexity, and your courage. You remind us that love is not limited by binaries or boundaries—it is expansive, intentional, and beautifully diverse.

At ColGay Pride, we are committed to creating a world where every identity is seen, heard, and celebrated. Your presence in our community enriches our collective story and strengthens our shared mission of inclusion and equity.

We know that visibility is more than a hashtag—it’s a lifeline. It’s the difference between isolation and belonging. And today, we say loudly and proudly: you belong.

Together, we will continue to build a future where omnisexual people—and all people—can live authentically, love freely, and thrive without fear.

With unwavering solidarity and love, The ColGay Pride Family Columbus, Georgia

INTERNATIONAL DRAG DAY

Celebrating International Drag Day – July 16th 🌟

At ColGay Pride of Columbus, Georgia, we are thrilled to honor International Drag Day, celebrated every year on July 16th. Founded in 2009 by Adam Stewart, this day was created to celebrate the art, culture, and power of drag—a form of expression that has long been a cornerstone of LGBTQ+ visibility, resistance, and joy.

Drag is more than performance—it’s protest, it’s pride, it’s poetry in motion. From the bold queens and kings who light up our stages to the nonbinary and gender-expansive artists who redefine beauty and power, drag is a celebration of authenticity and transformation.

📜 A Letter from ColGay Pride

To our dazzling drag community,

You are the heartbeat of our movement. You remind us that freedom is fabulous, and that self-expression is a sacred act. Whether you’re painting your face in glitter or commanding a mic in six-inch heels, you are telling the world: we are here, we are fierce, and we will not be silenced.

At ColGay Pride, we honor your artistry, your resilience, and your legacy. Drag has always been a radical act of visibility—and in a world that still tries to legislate our existence, your presence is power.

We pledge to continue building stages, spaces, and platforms where drag can thrive—not just as entertainment, but as a vital force for change.

With love, glitter, and unshakable pride, The ColGay Pride Family Columbus, Georgia
